Program

First day

We arrive in the late afternoon in Riva del Garda, the heart of the Upper Garda region, and check into a hotel overlooking Lake Garda. We’ll meet with the tour guide before dinner for an introductory briefing. The week unfolds with scenic hikes and bike rides. We’ll admire the turquoise waters of Lake Tenno, the charm of Lake Ledro, and the magic of Lake Toblino, as well as historic villages and castles steeped in history. An active yet relaxing journey through nature, sports, and the unique landscapes of Lake Garda.

Second day

Tenno and Turquoise Waters
From Riva del Garda, we walk toward Varone, where a somewhat challenging trail begins but leads us through olive groves to Tenno Castle. We pass through the medieval village of Frapporta and reach the Grom viewpoint, which overlooks the Upper Garda region. Visit to Canale di Tenno, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, followed by a scenic trail to Lake Tenno, famous for its alpine colors. A local bus will take us to the Varone Waterfall, a magical and breathtaking spot. We’ll return to Riva del Garda by local bus. Free afternoon—let’s meet up for dinner!

Third day

Busatte and Lakeview Balconies
A scenic walk along the lakefront from Riva del Garda to Torbole, including a visit to the historic center and Goethe’s house. From here, we’ll head up to Busatte Park and tackle the famous Busatte-Tempesta Trail: a spectacular route offering views of Lake Garda, winding through woods and offering stunning vistas, including the famous 400-step suspended iron walkway. From there, a 10-minute bus ride will take us back to the hotel. In the afternoon, for those who wish to continue exploring, the guide offersa ferry excursion on Lake Garda to the village of Limone sul Garda, famous for its suspended bike and pedestrian path. Dinner at the hotel.

Route information: Distance: 11 km – 4 hours of walking, including breaks. Elevation gain/loss: 400 m (ascent). Afternoon: 7 km with no elevation gain.

Fourth day

Cycling along the Sarca River
Let’s go for a ridetoday! You can choose between a regular bike or an e-bike. From Riva del Garda, we’ll ride in complete safety: we’re on the Sarca River bike path. We pass through Arco with its castle, the Fies power plant—a site of industrial heritage—and the spectacular Marocche di Dro. We arrive at the picturesque Lake Toblino, stop for a break at the castle café, and raise a toast at the Bike & Wine Bar in Dro, nestled among the vineyards. An easy ride back on a gentle downhill slope, and we’re back in Riva!

Fifth day

Ponale and Lake Ledro
Heading to Lake Ledro! We’ll walk along the Ponale Road, reopened in 2004 exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists, and continue on the old trail toward the Ledro Valley. Halfway through the route, we’ll stop for lunch in Prè di Ledro and pass through the villages of Ledro and Molina. Arrival at Lake Ledro, an alpine lake at 650 meters above sea level with incredible colors and famous for its pile dwellings. Time for an aperitif with a lake view and an optional visit to the Pile Dwelling Museum. Return by bus.

Sixth day

Departure by bus to Pregasina, followed by a hike up an easy forest trail to Punta Larici, at 907 meters, the most breathtaking viewpoint on Lake Garda. Descent toward Riva del Garda, with a stop at the Panorama restaurant and hotel to sample its hearty home-style dishes. After refueling and passing the tall Regina Mundi statue, we enter the Ponale Trail. Arriving in Riva del Garda around mid-afternoon, a group aperitif to say goodbye is a must. See you on the next vacation!

Itinerary information
Trekking for people accustomed to walking for a few hours at a slow pace on hill trails. Cycling is of moderate intensity, with the option of renting an e-bike to make pedaling easier.

Dinners: Dinners are left up to you so you can try the various local flavors, but the tour guide will help the group choose and book the right restaurant.

Train

Riva del Garda can be reached from both the south and north via the Brennero state road 12 or the A22 motorway (Rovereto Sud/Lago di Garda Nord exit, 15 km from the toll booth), then continuing along the SS 240 state road. Those coming from Trento can take the SS 45/bis as an alternative to the motorway. Coming from the south of Lake Garda, you can take the SS 249. The Hotel Vittoria is located in Via dei Disciplini (historic center).

Train

Arriving at Rovereto train station, you can reach Riva del Garda with the Trentino Trasporti bus service; for routes and timetables: https://www.trentinotrasporti.it/
