The Canary Islands are part of Spain, but when you arrive in Lanzarote, you’ll feel like you’ve landed on the Moon! Did you know that the Apollo crew was given photos of Lanzarote so they could get an idea of what they’d find during the moon landing? This week, you’ll understand why! You’ll discover an island with an almost surreal landscape—barren yet far from ordinary—where lava from 140 volcanoes has, over time, carved out hills, canyons, underground tunnels, and craters where vines are now cultivated. For a day, La Graciosa will be your timeless corner of paradise, accessible only by sea, where there are no paved roads and you get around only on foot or by bike. And finally, Fuerteventura, the island of wind and sand dunes. A full immersion in the magical world of the Canary Islands!
WHERE ARE WE GOING?
Program
First day
Fly into Arrecife and make your own way to the hotel, located in the center of Puerto del Carmen, the island’s tourist hub. Get to know the town by taking a stroll alongPuerto del Carmen’s main avenue, which is lined with bars and restaurants. Dinner at the hotel.
Second day
Free day, but our tour guide will still be available for optional excursions. We recommend a visit to Timanfaya National Park: its impressive expanses of solidified lava make it a true land of volcanoes. In the afternoon, you can take an exploratory walk through Puerto del Carmen to the old port, Varadero, which is full of tapas bars offering stunning views of the sea. Continue along the cliff path leading to Puerto Calero: here you can take a break among the sailboats and small cafes, where it won’t be hard to find a quality cup of coffee. Then head to Playa Quemada before making your way back to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.
Third day
After breakfast today, you’ll meet our guide for a guided tour to discover the most picturesque corners of Lanzarote. The tour can begin in the La Geria wine region, with a stop at Bodega El Grifo, nestled among vineyards and volcanoes. You’ll discover that here, the vines are grown in a very unique way—right in the lava! The resulting landscape is truly surreal, and the ash gives the wine a unique and inimitable flavor! Stop at Lago Verde, and then how about a stroll through the Volcanoes Park? Return to Puerto del Carmen for dinner.
Fourth day
The tour departs for the port of Orzola, in northern Lanzarote. From there, the ferry will take you to the famous Isla de La Graciosa, where you’ll dock at the port of La Caleta del Sebo. Free time to explore the island. An easy hike takes you to Playa de la Francesa, where you can relax on the beach, followed by a short walk to the foot of Montaña Amarilla, with its explosion of colors. The main color is mustard yellow, which gives it its name, but there are also other colors that fill the landscape: can you count them all? Swim in the sea and enjoy lunch on the beach before heading back to the port. The ferry will take you to Lanzarote. Dinner at the hotel.
Fifth day
Second guided day with our tour guide. There are so many attractions to visit in Lanzarote: we’ll start with the famous Mirador del Río and its breathtaking views, then pass through Haría, Famara (with its surfers), and the Cactus Garden, ending at Jameos del Agua. A full immersion in the natural and architectural beauty of Lanzarote!
Sixth day
Today you’ll set out to explore the third island of the week: Fuerteventura! A transfer has been arranged to Playa Blanca to catch the ferry, which will take you to the port of Corralejo on Fuerteventura in about half an hour. By bus, you’ll explore the most beautiful areas, including a stop at the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park, one of the most striking natural wonders of the Canary Islands, featuring 10 km of white dunes that are now a protected area. Return by ferry to Lanzarote before dinner.
Seventh day
Breakfast and some free time before your flight back to Italy. If you need to add a few days in Lanzarote—whether to extend your vacation or because your flight schedule requires it—just let us know! ;-)
